In December Jonny brewed a beer with his former employees Weird Beard Brew Co down in London. The plan was a strong stout with hints of chilli. We knew it would need some sweetness to balance, so having brewed with maple syrup before we decided to use agave nectar this time.
“Follow the worms” is a ‘Mexican Export Stout’, its name and label are references to both current political affairs and song lyrics. Come and find out more from Head Brewer of Weird Beard, Bryan. We’ll have 3 of their beers on tap including our collaboration, as well as some special bottles.
More about the beer from the Weird Beard website:
‘Ooopf you get that agave sweet hit right on the first whiff. Black Treacle creeps out the dark malts to contribute to the aroma. This beer drinks silky smooth and syrupy but its not to be mistaken for a soft or sickly stout! Although agave sweetness carries through in each sip, the grain-bill keeps the balance with a dry and roasty undertone. Somewhere there is a little kick of licorice. As you drink on, the touch of chilli and light heat is kindled and completes the Mexicana essence to this complex and beautiful beer.’
Beers on tap from 12pm. Meet the brewer from 5pm. No tickets.
